Error message: The movie processing will be stopped

Hi,

I'm a new SA user, so my question may have been asked by others many times before. I can't find the answer in the ongoing discussions though.

So here it is:

I'm trying to add a style to an imported QT movie of 125 frames,

but after "open source" and  "process with paint action sequence" and naming/saving the new movie,

only the first two frames of the movie are rendered in the intended style,

after which all stops and I get the message:

"Quicktime SCCompressSequenceFrame() call failed.

The movie processing will be stopped"

I have no idea what that means,

The rendered movie which pops up is indeed only 2 frames long.

I tried with  an imported quicktime H264, quicktime prores, and quicktime animation,

but that doesn't seem to make any difference. All I ever get, are the first two frames.

What did I do wrong here?

Filip

  • By the way,

    I also tried to paint /render the movie "DancingGirl" which comes with SA,

    but I get the exact same error message:

    "Quicktime SCCompressSequenceFrame() call failed.

    The movie processing will be stopped"

    My machine is a MAC PRO, Quad-core Intel Xeon, 2,8 GHz, 16gig Ram

  • That error message means that Quicktime compression api is failing at the second frame.

    The H264 codec will give you this error. You can't use it with Studio Artist 4. This is due to a bug in Apple's Quicktime api that was introduced with the Quicktime SDK we use to compile Studio Artist 4. This codec does work fine with Studio Artist 3.5, because it was compiled with an earlier version of the Quicktime SDK.

    Apple seems to be ignoring bugs associated with 32 bit quicktime carbon api, so i have no idea if this bug will be fixed in the future.

    The workaround is to output with a different codec, and then using something like Quicktime Player Pro to export as H264 if you want H264 for your final output. I do this all the time. I'll output with something like animation codec, and then convert that to H264 after i'm done rendering with Studio Artist using Quicktime Player Pro.

    I don't work with prores codec, but there are other people here who use it daily without problems.

    And i use animation codec all the time without problems, as do a lot of other people without any problems.

    So if you are having problems with animation codec or prores then there's something else going on associated with your computer that is very strange or unusual.

    What i would suggest is going to synthetik.com and reporting your problem there on the help desk as a support incident.

    That way we can work with you personally to try and resolve the problem without clogging up the forum.

    When you log your support incident, mention what quicktime version are you running, and what osx version are you running?

    • Thanks for your quick reaction John,

      I'll do as you suggest and report on the helpdesk,

      Filip

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
