  • Thanks for that - it's a fascinating video.

I am very interested in audio reaction. I've searched here on the Studio Artist forum and seen comments discussing the possible future implementation of such a feature, but the idea seems not to have prompted enthusiastic response.

On one thread, John Dalton asked how audio reaction might be used; well, this video gives a good example of how it could be used - to affect transition of elements: scale, position, rotation, etc; and to affect colour and visibility.

Currently, I use After Effects to create keyframes from an audio file to modulate various effects on a video, and then run that modulated video through Studio Artist.

But I would like to be able, for instance, having separated out the various instruments/tracks in a DAW and created .wav, .aiff or .mp3 files of them, to then use these to modulate different parameters within Studio Artist. So that, as an example, the bass could modulate distortion parameters; the drums, brightness; and so on.

    • By enthusiastic, do you mean Synthetik or Studio Artist users?

We here at Synthetik are actually very interested in examining ways to interface better to existing audio work environments for audio modulation and beat modulated control of effects generated in Studio Artist.

I'm not going to say anything about the specifics of what we are looking at to facilitate that at this particular time.

But i am very interested in any opinions or suggestions like what you just discussed for how people would want to use audio or beat structures to manipulate visuals within Studio Artist. This feedback is very good information to be included into internal decisions we are involved in now about how we should proceed in this area.

      • The feature I miss most when working with audio (which is most of the time now) is to be able to see, in the SA PASeq timeline, cue points/markers in the audio (and/or video) file, markers created in other applications. That would give me easier access to a way of working that now needs workarounds. Also, in previous SA versions, we were able to set in and out points in the source video, another thing I really miss these days.

Is anybody making a copy of all the material in the Tutorials Forum

Since the Forum is going away in June, has anyone started to make a copy of all the stuff in the Tutorials forum?I've made copies of some of the tutorial material on the main site, but haven't looked at the Tutorial Forum yet.I'm going to continue copying as much as I can for my own personal use anyway, but if anyone else is doing it, or has already started doing it, please let me know.Maybe we can co-ordinate our efforts. ps can't ..... believe John, would let this happen without so much as a…

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor

Teenage Tongue Cult

Hi, here is the video I made back in 2010 for my song "Teenage Tongue Cult". I finally found my master folder of image sequence files for it on one of my old hard drives, and since the version I had on my Vimeo was of pretty terrible pixelated low quality visually, I re-did it yesterday. It has extensive use of Studio Artist through the whole thing. I made it by first animating the characters and scenes in Flash, against a mostly kind of muddy green background, a color I knew wasn't being used…
