Hi,
Wondering how I can create an oil painting in SA to come close to the example I'm attaching. The first attachment is the original photograph. The second attachment is a painting done in another software program. I have experimented with many, many SA presets, but have yet to find one that simulates the type of oil painting that I'm looking for.
Hope some of you might have some ideas, presets or suggestions to recommend.
Thanks,
Art

not exactly sure which features of your target image you are liking most. If it is the swirly feature of stroke direction, you are probably going to be best off hand laying in the strokes. I suggest that you do this with path stroke record turned on. you can then try different presets with a cmd-k paint paths until you find an acceptable paint process.
attached is a quick go at getting a textured paint look. No presets all imops. click on the image to see the detail
selecting this option will cause SA to record your on canvas penstrokes. If you start with a blank canvas cmd-t will give you an onionskin of the source, so you can plan your strokes accordingly. you do not necessarily need put in enough strokes to cover everything. you might choose to fill the canvas with a simplified version and have the recorded strokes paint over that.
The image I posted is the result of image operations and a msg generated camfer selection mask that I used to add some of the texture.
I am dealing with a hard drive that I accidentally over filled - so it won't mount now.. when I get it all sorted I can post the basics.
