I was playing around with a few layers and noticed some strange behavior when all layers are set to 100%.

In this case I have two layers.

Layer 1 is set to add ( 100% )

layer 2 is set to add scaled (100% )

If I mouse over the picture to scroll up/down/left/right, ( on my Mac ), the intensity of the colors increases way beyond what the 100% levels indicated by the layers panel.

If I change layer 1 to multiply 3 and leave the panel at 100%. The image intensity eventually becomes so high the image turns white.

This seems to only happen when I am able to actually scroll the image up and down or left and right. and when the feature intensity is set to 100%. if the intensity is anything less than 100%, nothing happens. Using the scroll bars to pan over the image also causes these effects. Also this only happens when the image size exceeds the size of the window.

Some of the effects will generate a flickering effect in the image when I scroll.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

Looks like you found a bug of some kind in the 4.04 scroll code.  We'll investigate and hopefully get a fix for this in the next 4.05 beta build.

I did some more testing. I don't see the problem in our existing 4.05 beta build (just in 4.04), so i think we had already fixed this problem in 4.05. I'll email you a 4.05 beta download for you to try out and confirm.

Ah ha, I thought I was imagining things but have seen similar type issues too on my Mac computers.

I cannot remember exactly now but there were times when the canvas would change intensity during some other action. It is a rare occurrence though.

While on this topic, there is one thing that I notice consistently: on any image with two or more layers, when changing the composite modes on layer 1, I get different layer interaction/results when moving up than when moving down through the mode drop down list.

I think the odd behavior with layers is fixed in 4.05. We'll email you a beta build to try out.
