I've been doing this with good results. Now for some reason when I process a video with Paint Action Seq, the resulting movie is Black. I haven't changed anything (as far as I know.)
I've tried it with other movies and other PASeq but all come out black.
I see the process happening on each frame so I thought it was saving it to the QT file that way, but no.
My embedded alpha is set to SourceMovie. And my codec is Animation + millions.
Is that wrong? Don't think I changed anything and it was working fine last week.
Use Animation millions if you don't care about adding an embedded alpha channel to your rendered output movie. The plus stands for adding an alpha channel, not any extra information to the RGB image information in the frames.
Also, set your Embedded Alpha movie preference to Full On.
The PASeq is a preset that either came with SA or I downloaded form the forum. It's called cartoon simplify only.
I also tried this with other PASeqs as an experiment and same thing happened.
OK, it has to do with it being a really old PASeq.
Modify it to be the following, and it will work fine
The issue is to just make sure the layer alpha channel is set to full on. SetCanvas should in theory be doing that, but for some reason because it's a really old PASeq it's taking a different code path internally when running and not.
Setting the movie Embedded Alpha preference to full on should fix the issue at movie frame output, but it's not in this particular case, so i'll look into that.
Sorry to be such a newbie, but I got everything set as you suggested except for the "set alpha to 100%".
How do I do that?
Use the Canvas : Alpha : Set to : Full On menu command while PASeq recording is on.
Normally you would not have to do that, but since you were using a very old PASeq that included the step that set the alpha channel to 0, it stayed set that way after you ran it. Setting the Embedded Alpha movie preference to full on should override that, but apparently it's not doing that in some cases, so your canvas alpha channel (which was set to full off or black) was getting used for the movie generation). So .hat points to some kind of a bug which i will look into and fix in 4.04. What i asked you to do was just to add an extra action step to insure your canvas alpha channel was full on.
If you every have a generated movie that comes out black, in 99% of the cases it involves the movie alpha channel being set to full off.
