Please help! Lost my PASeq in an old computer.

I am hoping that someone might help me find out how I doctored this photo. I lost the PASeq in my old computer and I can't figure out how I did this. Any ideas would be a great help. The first photo is undoctored and the second is the one that I'm trying to re-create. I realize this is a long shot but again I would be INCREDIBLY grateful if I could figure it out! Thank you so much for any help! Garrick Also, I am not a terribly sophisticated user so I believe I didn't do anything too fancy!

  • which version of SA were you using at the time?
    • liveart, thank you so much! I have to go to work now but I'll try your suggestions over the weekend. I was using 3.5. Again, much thanks. Any other ideas come to mind, do let me know. Hopefully I can figure it out!
  • I am confident that the effect is using gradient lighting and either a morphol or image compression.

Because these operations are sensitive to the source/canvas resolution ratio I can't give exact settings. Try the Detailer 1 ImOp followed by the Sun Booster2 ImOp. Both are found in the "processing" subfolder of image operations.

then take a look inside of these presets and make any fine adjustments you might want.
    • I find it amazing that you can you tell what the preset was just by looking at the final image and deciphering it. Tried your suggestion and voila, you nailed it! What's your secret? You must have memorized most of the settings!! :-)

  • Hi liveart,

Thank you for the suggestions. These two steps might very well be involved but it is missing an important element. If you notice the wood of the drawers and the white shade in the back, there is a frosted look that might be a texture. Any thoughts about how to achieve that?
    again many thanks,
    Garrick
    • yes, I noticed that, my initial thought is/was that your source image is of higher resolution than what you posted.

Beyond that, as I mentioned, open the presets and fiddle with the settings a bit. You will find particularly on the gradient that small changes in width, elevation and specularity can make big differences in the result. Also as I suggested using Gradient Lighting vs the gradient function in the Detailer 1 ImOp might get you closer.

In SA it is quite often the case that exactly duplicating an image is impossible. Even with the same preset sequence there are often random factors involved. This is part of the beauty of SA.

IF you just generally want to add some texture to the image you can look at the presets I posted in the preset sharing forum.
      • Yes, you're right! The problem was the resolution size (having shrunk the photo to post it). Thanks for all of your thoughtfulness and help. It is greatly appreciated!

Is anybody making a copy of all the material in the Tutorials Forum

Since the Forum is going away in June, has anyone started to make a copy of all the stuff in the Tutorials forum?I've made copies of some of the tutorial material on the main site, but haven't looked at the Tutorial Forum yet.I'm going to continue copying as much as I can for my own personal use anyway, but if anyone else is doing it, or has already started doing it, please let me know.Maybe we can co-ordinate our efforts. ps can't ..... believe John, would let this happen without so much as a…

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor

Teenage Tongue Cult

Hi, here is the video I made back in 2010 for my song "Teenage Tongue Cult". I finally found my master folder of image sequence files for it on one of my old hard drives, and since the version I had on my Vimeo was of pretty terrible pixelated low quality visually, I re-did it yesterday. It has extensive use of Studio Artist through the whole thing. I made it by first animating the characters and scenes in Flash, against a mostly kind of muddy green background, a color I knew wasn't being used…
