Question about user sliders in MSGs

Hi John (and everyone), in older versions (3.x) of Studio Artist, if you saved out an MSG with a "user slider" set in a TG (temporal generator), the user slider would show up in the MSG control panel.  I'm having some trouble finding where the user sliders for MSG temporal generators show up in SA4.  Thanks!

  • hi thor: ...The initial release of Studio Artist 4 does not support the old 3.5 limited user slider functionality for MSG presets. That support may return in a future update...

I 've also had some troubles with my old 3.5-presets, that I saved with usersliders-TGs, and it took some time to find out, that I had to delete this settings to run them cleanly again in v4. (it was irritating, because there is still an option to select them in the msg advanced editor.)

I wish the "user sliders" back in a future version.

  • Max's reply covers the 2 version 4 issues with the user slider TG option. User sliders are not currently implemented in Studio Artist version 4. We hope to bring them back at some point in the Editor when in MSG operation mode. They were essential in 3.5, since detailed MSG editing was done in a separate application called MSG Evolver, and you needed them to have some user adjustable control over MSG presets in Studio Artist..

The other thing that MAX points out is that you should really turn off slider TG's in version 4 to avoid confusion, since they will change the parameter but there's not interface slider to work with, so you will see one thing in the preview display and another in the main canvas when you run the MSG effect.

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor

Teenage Tongue Cult

Hi, here is the video I made back in 2010 for my song "Teenage Tongue Cult". I finally found my master folder of image sequence files for it on one of my old hard drives, and since the version I had on my Vimeo was of pretty terrible pixelated low quality visually, I re-did it yesterday. It has extensive use of Studio Artist through the whole thing. I made it by first animating the characters and scenes in Flash, against a mostly kind of muddy green background, a color I knew wasn't being used…
