Studio Artist 4.02 Update

Studio Artist 4.02 is a free update for all Studio Artist 4 customers. We'll be emailing the existing version 4 customer database shortly with information about how to download your Studio Artist 4.02 update. If you are an existing Studio Artist 4 customer and you didn't receive a 4.04 update email from us after this weekend feel free to contact techsupport At synthetik DOT com.

Windows 4.0 customers will receive a new Studio Artist 4.02 application build for windows and a new doc folder.

Mac 4.0 customers will receive a new Studio Artist 4.02 application build for mac, a new doc folder, and a new plugins folder.

Remember, you always need to place a new Studio Artist application update file in your main Studio Artist folder in order for it to run properly. If you try to run it outside of the main Studio Artist folder it will not start up.

Studio Artist 4.02 contains a number of new feature updates, as well as bug fixes and enhancements. If you are still running an original 4.0 build you will also notice some new icon buttons in the main operation toolbar, and the new erase to terminology for controls related to erasing the canvas introduced in 4.01. Below is a brief overview of some of the new features.

Gallery Show has some cool new features discussed here on the forum previously, including the Current Factory and Mutate Current Factory techniques, some additional paint draw options, and the new auto mask options.

The Vectorizer includes a number of new features for the image, shape, and outline techniques as well as some new coloring options.

There's new Watershed Sketch and Mass Abstractor image operations. The Smart Contrast image operation now supports vector output. There's also some new MSG processors.

The paint synthesizer has some new compositing options to better support paper and canvas texture simulations for people interested in those kinds of paint effects.

The paint synthesizer evolution help page in the integrated help browser has a number of new expanded command options. The paint synthesizer marco edit help page also has a number of new expanded command options.

I have placed SA 4.02 into my main SA folder, but cannot get it to open!

I had downloaded the files separately. I then went back and downloaded the 3 files in one zip file. Got rid of the prior 3 files and got 4:02 to open.

I hope this helps others who may run into the same situation.

bad plugins zip file... mac os x 10.5.8 on a mac mini

Try double clicking on the zip archives in the mac finder to decompress them. There were a few people who reported a problem with corruption who were using Stuffit or unarchiver to do the zip decompression. When they used the built in mac finder zip decompressor the problem went away for them.
