Transparent Background

Thanks for the heads up on Gallery Show. It's really flexible.
What I am now trying to do is an Edge Sketch, then turn the white background transparent. I have had a look round but can't find any hints on how to do this.

Here's a tip on working with alpha channels in layers.

Here's a tip on selection and masking.

You could select the white background, invert the selection, and then set the layer alpha channel to the inverted selection. So what areas of the canvas would have low or full off alpha values with this strategy.

You'd have to enable alpha view for the layer's alpha channel to affect the view, which is discussed in the tip above.

I read your tips; but still cant get the effect I'm looking for. Any chance you showing click by click how to make the background transparent on the above pic? Sorry to be a pain.
