Set Frame Range for Processing

Hi - Was wondering if there is anyway to set the range of frames from a source to render. I'm having trouble rendering a sequence that seems to randomly crash. Regardless of the reasons for the crash - it would help if I could set the start and end frame of a sequence I want to render.

I've had a look at the documentation and can't seem to find any mention of it.

Thanks

Dan

  • I'd suggest starting a tech support ticket about the crash issue you are running into so we can take a look at it.

If you goto the Support menu at synthetik.com you can start a support ticket. Please tell us what PASeq you are using (attach if it's custom), size of source and canvas in pixels, any information about the crash you can, what computer platform and os you are running on.

  • The ability to set in/out points in the loaded source video is a feature we want to bring back in SA 6. It's in the current source window specs.

Earlier versions of Studio Artist did have that, but it got lost in the SA 4 application rewrite apple forced us to do.

It's actually very easy to use QuickTime Player 7 Pro to copy/paste video segments you want to work on, save them as a work file, then load that into Studio Artist. The work files reference the original movie file, so you don't really lose any disk space when you do it this way.

Oh wait, Apple killed off QuickTime Player7 Pro in Catalina. Are you noticing a theme here?

Another option is to process a folder of numbered frame images. You can output to a folder of rendered numbered frame images. So then if you do run into some crash issue, you have saved all of your work uuntil the problem happened.

It's usually straightforward to do the 'frames in a folder to movie' and reverse conversion in your nonlinear video editor.

Why Quicktime Player7 pro made it super easy, ok i'll shut up now.
