Hello Studio Artists!
I have been hard at work processing tons of vintage footage for use in an upcoming live performance. West Edge Opera is producing L'incoronatzione di Poppea. The music is early pre-Baroque Italian. The setting (I designed lighting, scenery, and projections) is 1962 US alternate history what if JFK left Jackie for Maralyn. Projections are all 1962 pop-art inspired. Footage comes from a combination of public domain/creative commons licensed clips from archive.org ranging from news footage of protests and police brutality to vintage porn. Lots of original footage was rotoscoped as well.
If you like seeing SA effects big and in person, images are projected on a custom built 20'x12' popart screen and a 120 square foot bed with canopy and drapes.
Musically it is quite interesting as well since the conductor has gone back to the original sources rather than using modern orchestrations. So it is all pre-Baroque period instruments.

Congratulations on your work for the opera, Lucas. The music is a superb composition.
Where do I find more information on rotoscoping?
Thanks for inviting me into the group.

Another shot from Poppea. Projection is from footage rotoscoped with an MSG preset.
Here is a look at the projections on my custom built screen and bed canopy. If I recall correctly the images for this scene were done with a slight modification to the Vectorizer Sketch 2 preset.
This sounds fascinating and I would love to see it!! I haven't been to Berkeley in the last five years due to a disability though; if I can interest a friend in this I would like to come :)
Dates are Feb 1, 2, & 3. Forgot to put them in the original post.
