I need to work on the ink presets a little. They are probably a little too tree root looking. I'd like them to be a little more fluid in nature. This was just a real rough quick experiment towards where i'd ultimately like this kind of style to go.
One interesting thing about this kind of approach is that the painting is all vector, so you could output it as an eps or svg file and print it at whatever resolution you want to.

Comment by mark g on July 5, 2012 at 7:25am any chance of a preset for this?.....even untweaked ........I would be be curious to play with it
It was 2 different vector paint presets. Both are designed to be manual paint presets.
The face was done with a multipen 'rake', where the brush size of the individual paint nibs is being modulated based on source image luminance. So it's like an auto-engraving paint preset.
The hair is another freestyle pen mode preset where the brush size is being modulated by the path length. I used freestyle pen mode so that the path length is first defined by what the user draws in using the freestyle dotted path preview, and then the real size modulated brush stroke is drawn in when you mouse up.
I'll see if i can find or remake the presets.
