I think i can add something to interactive warp to make your "Vasarely" picture desires pretty easy to make. You'd just start with whatever grid you want to use and then do the modulated warp.

Yes I know how to create simple grids with the Line screen block regionize imop, I mean more artistic grids...

the MSG Bernard can make grids with several different functions including the chamfer presets. One can also make grids with the texturizer, or in the Paint synth.
