Comment by Ron Lashley on January 30, 2012 at 12:36pm I like this Benard but I have a question. Is there a reason that you zip the presets? Why all this extra work for you and us? Might I suggest not zipping any file that is less than 300 KB.
Mac files have 2 components, a data fork and a resource fork. The resource fork gets lost when you post it for download if you don't zip compress the file. That's why we encourage people to zip compress preset files.

Thanks for your comment Ron !
Comment by Ron Lashley on January 31, 2012 at 10:29am Thanks for the info John. It makes sense now (I'm not a Mac user).
The side product of mac files actually being 2 separate files that are hidden from the user, is that when you bring a mac file over to windows, you see 2 files with the same name in the windows file system. One is really small, and the other is bigger. The bigger one is the usable preset file, which is the mac data fork. The mac resource fork doesn't do anything on windows.
