Studio Artist Feature Requests

I got tired of trying to track down the most populated and recent forum posts relating to feature requests for SA so I decided to start a group here.Hopefully, it will be easier to follow than the posts on the forum.See More

"I changed the colorspace to Lum using the BW Threshold adjust and got the results I was looking for.  Thanks John!"

"Try changing the ColorSpace parameter to Lum. Another option is to use the Following Fixed Color ip op effect. 100% Mix will be BW, anything between 100% and 0% will have appropriate reduced saturation. "

"That's what I tried first, however I the image brightness seems to drop as well when I did it.   Here's the original: And here's the same image with me dragging as far left as I can with my stylus before the entire image goes…"

"Can't you just use the Value/Sat Adjust option in Interactive Adjust op mode? Pulling the clicked down cursor left in the canvas will decrease the saturation."

Desaturating an image

I'm having a complete low brain activity day today.  Working on an image and want to desaturate an element I created so that its solely black and white.  After mutzing around with some of the adjust and image ops, I'm stumped.  I'm thinking there's a way to do it via MSG, but before I go that route I figure I'd toss it out to the Forum and see what you all have to say. Thanks in advance!See More

How do you use Studio Artist?
I play and around and cook up different recipes to process my videos with. I've ventured into the realm of vlogging a bit (on hiatus right now) and want to meld interesting visuals with interesting content (or, at the least, try to make compelling content out of the mundane.)

I've mostly used SA as a processing/rotoscoping tool. I love "gunking" video up. I'd like to put it through its paces a little more and venture into more of its warping/animation applications.
About Me:
I've worked in the video/film industry for almost 10 years now (yikes! I used to think those guys knew everything when I was coming up and now I'm one of them! Very much don't know everything...)

I was one of the Producers that created videos for President Obama's campaign website and Youtube. Before that I worked as an assistant editor at a very busy full service production/animation company. (Never thought life could get busier than that!)

I'm an avid hill-roller, sometimes obnoxious Detroit Pistons fan and would love to spend a few months in Antarctica with my camera, my laptop and SA (and, of course, some warm, warm clothes!)

Studio Artist 4 on a macbook pro (2011)

I just got my new Macbook Pro last week and I'm so excited!  The way that I work with Studio Artist 4 has been dramatically enhanced and I'm enthralled.  Floating palettes make sense now!  I had to decide between the 27" iMac and the Macbook Pro and ultimately went with the MBP because it allowed me to work away from my desk.

With an external monitor I can actually see and think about things that I literally couldn't see on my old 13" macbook.  I also was able to snag…

re your comment on "Sunny Tumbler"

Thanks Chris. I like the smoothness too. and, as i mentioned below, the 60fps version is super smooth, slippery and liquidy.

Hi Chris,

The clients were involved every step of the way - we shot the youth first, and got an approved audio cut from that.  Then we developed a storyboard, which we also got approved.  Then we did samples which were also approved. Still, they didn't really understand what we were doing - but trusted us anyway.  The reaction has been terrific from both client and audiences - usually involving tears, which I consider a win!

Calling one PAS from inside another.

HiI would like to be able to run one PAS from inside another. A bit like a subroutine. I can see that there would have to be a limit on how deep these calls could go and that there might be problems with recursion. Would it be possible to implement this?Paul TebbattSee More
