Bach Siloti Coleman Prelude

"Thanks Paul. I consider myself more of a painter than an “animator”, that sets priorities that are quite different from those of animation or illustration, especially at the formal level."

Bach Siloti Coleman Prelude

Beautiful orchestration by Charles Coleman of Alexander Siloti's arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Prelude in B minor. The moment I heard this, I knew I wanted to listen to it with my eyes, there’s such a deep and moving longing in this music. This was…

“Aestoria” at the Melbourne International Animation Festival

Very happy about this, it feels like longer “Visual Music” pieces are (finally) setting up a bridgehead in the world of Animation Festivals which is so dominated by the entertainment ogre (my sincere thanks to Malcolm Turner, director of the Melbourne International Animation Festival).More info here: http://visualmusic.ning.com/events/aestoria-in-melbourne…See More

Jean,

I think the http://studioartist.ning.com/forum/topics/on-artistic-series-ii
thread maxed out.
I personally love reading what you write and the passion and thought you put into it.
Gets me charged up every time.
As a working artist I need to be able to control my medium and expression to make the buck. And my job is also to tell other artists what to do and how... I pretty much live and breath the tried and true - technically and artistically.

But I am also reaching for the "thing" that preceded all the knowledge and technique I am buried under... wether its "me" or other.

Thanks for sharing the vision and the passion!

hello, Jean,

did you ever get my CD called "Being and Nothingness"?

I have made some progress with both Cinema and Studio Artist, but in the latter am still quite amateurish with movies that turn out jerky. So much to learn!

All the best,

Otto

(I moved to Gloucester, MA, the area where the Folly Cove Designers worked between 1938-68, there is rich cultural heritage here!)

thank you for your reply, Jean. For some reason, I did not receive your response earlier this year. I am much looking forward to seeing your new work.

alpha composite option query

Hi,I'm working with alpha layers and was wondering if the alpha / alpha1 composite options are the best way forward if I want to paint a few brush strokes in a layer?..It seems that using 'replace' composite leaves a sort of haloing around the brush stroke when all the layers are viewed, alpha composite seems to remove this problem, or is it my imagination?thanksSee More
