In preparation for upcoming live images - music concerts, I am eagerly practising real-time image/video generation and mixing, and am having a ball. I practise with musics I know will be performed in those concerts, but also with music I have wanted…

Giacometti retrospective in Québec, 2nd and last visit

Went to see that glorious show again this past Wednesday, the impact is as potent as during the first visit, even if I am extremely familiar with his work. Here are a few photos we took Wednesday, an album with many more is available on…See More

“Final Portrait”, a movie that takes us into the world of Alberto Giacometti

“A Giacometti Portrait” is a little book written by James Lord (published in 1965, Giacometti died in 1966), a book that gives us a privileged look into Alberto Giacometti’s work and life.It was compulsory reading in all the classes I taught. It’s now been converted into a movie (am looking forward to seeing it) and the trailer shows that the movie is true to the book that it is based on: I showed it to a few friends and colleagues who are as familiar with Giacometti’s work as I am, and we all…See More

Tremendously enjoyed your Daydream Mechanics V Sketch 3 movie (referenced from http://studioartist.blogspot.com/2007/05/jean-detheux-chronicles-visual-music.html)
as well as your other works.

Jean,

I think the http://studioartist.ning.com/forum/topics/on-artistic-series-ii
thread maxed out.
I personally love reading what you write and the passion and thought you put into it.
Gets me charged up every time.
As a working artist I need to be able to control my medium and expression to make the buck. And my job is also to tell other artists what to do and how... I pretty much live and breath the tried and true - technically and artistically.

But I am also reaching for the "thing" that preceded all the knowledge and technique I am buried under... wether its "me" or other.

Thanks for sharing the vision and the passion!

hello, Jean,

did you ever get my CD called "Being and Nothingness"?

I have made some progress with both Cinema and Studio Artist, but in the latter am still quite amateurish with movies that turn out jerky. So much to learn!

All the best,

Otto

(I moved to Gloucester, MA, the area where the Folly Cove Designers worked between 1938-68, there is rich cultural heritage here!)

thank you for your reply, Jean. For some reason, I did not receive your response earlier this year. I am much looking forward to seeing your new work.
