"I have had the chance to test ProRes, ProRes 422 (HQ), ProRes 444 and high quality h.264 in a movie theatre, and given that all my files are computer generated, it was obvious that ProRes 4444 gave the best results (all the files were of the same…"

La Folia, revamped

At the end of 2008, I was looking for a version of Arcangelo Corelli’s Follia to listen to with my eyes. I heard a large number of versions, many beautiful ones, some by very famous musicians (rightly so), but the one version that really grabbed my…

Madame Ose

This is a very ancient piece, done exclusively in Studio Artist when it was making the work in the time dimension more and more possible (more info in the notes). It gave birth to other pieces, based on the same visuals (again, read the notes, links…

I think the
thread maxed out.
I personally love reading what you write and the passion and thought you put into it.
Gets me charged up every time.
As a working artist I need to be able to control my medium and expression to make the buck. And my job is also to tell other artists what to do and how... I pretty much live and breath the tried and true - technically and artistically.

But I am also reaching for the "thing" that preceded all the knowledge and technique I am buried under... wether its "me" or other.

Thanks for sharing the vision and the passion!

dear Jean,
I much value knowing about your work. Today, I mailed you two of my recent CDs.
Any comment would be welcome, critical or not.

yes, I do feel "in good hands" given the SA Forum and John's exceptional openness to artistic input.

hello, Jean,

did you ever get my CD called "Being and Nothingness"?

I have made some progress with both Cinema and Studio Artist, but in the latter am still quite amateurish with movies that turn out jerky. So much to learn!

All the best,

(I moved to Gloucester, MA, the area where the Folly Cove Designers worked between 1938-68, there is rich cultural heritage here!)

thank you for your reply, Jean. For some reason, I did not receive your response earlier this year. I am much looking forward to seeing your new work.

Randomization option

Hi,Is there a way to use the "random" button to randomize all parameters in the editor instead of just one? Or lock some and let the randomizer randomize the remaining parameters? Its quite useful for discovery but think it would be way better if it randomized all parameters or had a choice of what to randomize or not. Thanks.See More

Victor Ingrassia replied to Synthetik Software's discussion ProRes Lossless Codec
"Thanks! Tho I had already downloaded the Pro codecs on both machines... it apparently took copying the codecs to the folder you described to solve it. And, of course, I had to relaunch SA for them to appear."
