An Initial Set of SA Preset Samples

To get things started in this new SA Preset Samples group, here is a link to a comprehensive set of version 4 preset samples of mine--enjoy!https://app.box.com/s/ou9mtenbjgx5g4ul1b18uaqr3mcxiius It includes samples of all 6,261 of the non-MSG presets.  But you’ll find 8,784 sample images in total, since some of the presets generate different outputs each time they are run.  Total size for a download of all of them is around 674 Mb, but any can be viewed online if preferred, or downloaded in smaller groups. Each filename has the format ’YourImage_SAPresetName_low.jpg’, which includes the name of a source image, the SA preset name, and the ‘low’ to indicate it is a low-resolution sample (typically 720x480).  Variant outputs for some presets are indicated by SAPresetName.2, .3 etc.  The folders are nested with exactly the same structures and names as the original SA4 presets themselves, namely by a type - collection -…See More

Studio Artist Version 4 versus Version 5--Two Parallel Galaxies?

Granted, SA5 is a very significant structural upgrade from SA4, both in terms of the efficiency and sophistication of its underlying code, and in its greatly increased user programmability.  However, it is easy to forget that what we users are most in contact with, when using either version, are the included presets themselves, in terms of what they can do to change our initial images in artistic ways.  But in comparing SA4 and SA5 presets, I’m immediately struck by how different these collections are.  Even though SA5 has many more non-MSG presets than SA4--12,266 compared with 6,261---I’m very surprised that so few of the named non-MSG SA4 presets have survived into SA5 (at least, if they haven’t been disguised with new names in SA5).  I don’t view this as a bad thing, but instead what we now have is two mainly distinct, parallel galaxies of presets to play around with in the SA universe--letting literally many thousands of new flowers bloom. The artistic landscapes of the presets…See More
