I've been playing music lately with a bunch of old farts like myself. The premise of our weekly meetings is to be "in the NOW," expressing ourselves spontaneously via the impromptu musical form, as a…Continue

"Clever is definitely not art, but it might exist on the edge of creativity. However, I've been learning lately that cleverness, like amazement, can really get in the way of opening all the doors and letting creativity reign. Both cleverness and…"

How do you use Studio Artist?
Exploration so far - still reading the Reference Manual. :-) This is a very DEEP and exciting piece of software. John Dalton is one brilliant man, imo.
About Me:
designer, musician.

I did the music business until I was old enough to get serious about life. I founded and managed a graphic design firm in Portland, Oregon for 25 years. We did whatever came in the door, but within 15 years or so, we were doing corporate and product branding, worldwide advertising, and collateral design for companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Weyerhaeuser, and Tillamook Cheese, to name a few. I retired from the business in 2004 and now beta-test and generally explore graphics software, such as Lightwave3D. I also do a fair amount of pro bono illustration and design work for non-profits. So I've basically gone from being a generalist to a hobbyist who plays with his toys all day long. :-) Studio Artist is PERFECT for me.

Rotoscoping with multiple layers

I employ several learning styles, but my favorite is experience. So I typically "fearlessly" bang my empty head on trying things until something begins to make sense. Today I explored PASeq's with multiple layers, learned about exporting Presets, about the PASeq Default panel, and explored how to get a multi-layered effect when batch-processing images. I am grateful to John Dalton and to liveart, for standing with me in my crash-bang learning process today.  :-)

Here is an…

Factory Presets

I spent about a day going through almost every SA factory preset (while I read the manual), saving out many individual images as I tried each preset, all based on the same source image. I made a simple video of the 145 images which came from this exploration, to demonstrate the variety of some of SA's stock presets.
