Some questions... perhaps unfortunately, a bit of rambling as well

The more I play with studio artist. The more I think some dedicated means of using manually drawn guide lines to influence stroke directions would be aid in creating more natural appearing…Continue

New reason to desire transparent layer support.

I would think it could be used as a brush targeting variable (i.e. put stroke placement priority on alpha). This way when auto painting is used with this option enabled it should fill the canvas more…Continue

preset/PAS user repository?

I think it would be great if studio artist internally supported a user submitted preset/PAS repository. Something akin to what Filter Forge does for it's filter settings.  I know there is a forum…Continue

Looking to mimic my own sketching style

I'm looking for a way to lessen opacity or intensity of strokes based on distance from detected edges in source image.  I'm also wanting to increase stroke/path randomization based on the same…Continue

What version of Studio Artist do you own?
Studio Artist 5 (Windows 10 x64)
How do you use Studio Artist?
I tend to use it to explore abstractions of images to give me ideas. I also sometimes use it to do rough base paintings before I go in and manually paint details. I also just plain experiment and brainstorm a lot. Something so far is stopping me from using automated processes alone. There always seems to be something that just doesn't seem natural about the automated results. Maybe It's just a stubborn vestige of being a more traditional physical media sort of artist. Or perhaps it's a lack of finesse on my part with the settings. Either way I do a lot of manual work, in and out of SA.
About Me:
I was born and raised in California. I like to experiment with pretty much any kind of graphics editor I can get my hands on. I used to draw and paint paper and canvas as well as sculpt in many mediums, but have mostly migrated into digital work.

I also like long walks along the beach... just kidding. Not going to turn this into a personal's ad.

I am however getting an itch to experiment with 3D printing... I enjoy art and building things, and I also dabble with electronics/rudimentary robotics. I see a lot of possibilities in 3d printing. When high-res color 3d printers become more affordable, I will probably get one and behave like a kid in a candy shop.

You have to try saving it in different formats - no easy solution so far for the jpeg format. :(
