Axiotron announced the new Modbook Pro today. This is a new tablet mac based on the macbook pro. Good news, 15 inch wacom pen writable screen and 2.4 GHz apple pro motherboard with GeFoce 9600 GT graphics processing and touch sensitivity so you can use your finger as well as the pen (at the same time). Bad news, list price of $4999 (ouch). I think this would be a killer machine to run Studio Artist on if you can deal with the rather high entry price.

nice piece of kit but closer to $6000 when spec'd to reasonable use for graphics.

It's unfortunate that's there's such a price premium placed on adding the writable screen. I've avoided getting a tablet pc so far because they typically have 12 inch fairly low res screens and that seems too small for my tastes. A 15 inch macbook pro configuration would work nicely i think.

Several reviews have pointed out that it might make more sense to get a Cintiq display and just hook it up to your powerbook via usb. Although then you're looking at a 12 inch display again for the portable one you'd hold in your lap. But the price is $999 for the 12 inch Cintiq.
