I put this together in response to a forum question asked today about generating this kind of simple outline animation in Studio Artist. There are 3 different simple black and white sketch examples. These were all generated automatically.

The source video is the Colbert green screen challenge footage, so Colbert is dancing around in front of a green screen. I did a real rough color key using Region Selection to generate a new source movie that has Colbert dancing on a flat white background.

For the first example, i selected the white background, inverted the selection to get Colbert selected, and then converted that into a bezier path outline of the selection. I then painted that with a pencil preset in the paint synthesizer.

The other 3 examples show off the new version 4 Sketch effect with 2 different settings. Sketch can create a wide range of different sketching effects depending on how you setup it's adjustable parameters.

Randomization option

Hi,Is there a way to use the "random" button to randomize all parameters in the editor instead of just one? Or lock some and let the randomizer randomize the remaining parameters? Its quite useful for discovery but think it would be way better if it randomized all parameters or had a choice of what to randomize or not. Thanks.See More

"Thanks! Tho I had already downloaded the Pro codecs on both machines... it apparently took copying the codecs to the folder you described to solve it. And, of course, I had to relaunch SA for them to appear."
