When I saw the video of the concert Marco Ambrosini (nyckelharpa) presented with Caterina Other (nyckelharpa) and Frieder Zimmermann (guitar), I immediately knew I wanted to listen to its music with my eyes.
The beautiful energy of that performance reached out to me, it seems to me a live concert often offers that kind of energy while the more “perfect” studio recording can at times lack it.

That video is here:

This is yet one more example of musicians who take historically significant music and perform it with a “modern” twist, yet do so with total respect for the original.

With Marco and the SUPERSONUS, The European Resonance Ensemble, we already had explored that a while ago: https://vimeo.com/107930894

Once again, I am not at all trying to illustrate the music, I bring the music and many sequences into my editing application (Final Cut Pro X) and start “playing" with them until “something” feels right.
I have long ago given up on working with/from an idea or concept, I’d rather enter a dialogue with music which is like a child discovering a new territory rather than that of a mason building a brick-wall following a architect’s blueprint.

Please consider supporting my work (VERY MUCH in need of support these days). You can make donations via PayPal, starting from here : http://www.vudici.net/movies/morphing.html#new123108 (this type of work receives very little help, if any, from the usual channels).
Thank you

alpha composite option query

Hi,I'm working with alpha layers and was wondering if the alpha / alpha1 composite options are the best way forward if I want to paint a few brush strokes in a layer?..It seems that using 'replace' composite leaves a sort of haloing around the brush stroke when all the layers are viewed, alpha composite seems to remove this problem, or is it my imagination?thanksSee More

Bach Siloti Coleman Prelude

"Thanks Paul. I consider myself more of a painter than an “animator”, that sets priorities that are quite different from those of animation or illustration, especially at the formal level."
