New User Groups Feature

We added a new User Groups feature to the Studio Artist User Forum. You will notice the new Groups tab at the top of the forum and a new popular groups section on the bottom left side. I started a new Studio Artist Tutorials group as a way of getting this new feature going. But the real point of this new feature is that users can create their own groups. One obvious use is to create personalized discussion groups for topics as an alternative to this general forum. Another might be people with specific artistic interests could create groups organized around those interests and then be able to email others in the group when they post new images or movies, have questions, etc. One thing i thought was cool that i saw in the Studio Artist discussions on Innographx was that people would post screen shots of specific features or presets they thought were cool to share with others. Because you can attach files or images to group discussions this might be a good place to do that. So somebody could start a group devoted to 'cool studio artist presets' for example (hint), and then people could share presets there. Or people interested in abstract animation could start a group devoted to that. When you start a new group you also have the capability to personalize it with custom images, html, etc. So feel free to personalize your own groups.

  • Just wanted to remind forum users to check out and take advantage of the new Groups feature available via the Groups tab at the top of the forum. So far there are groups devoted to Studio Artist Tutorials, MSG, and a group to share your custom Studio Artist presets with others.

Let me know if there are additional tutorial topics you would like to see addressed. I tend to focus on whatever Studio Artist feature i have been using in my daily work, but i can address specific topics as people suggest them. Several people have been asking for more information about emulating physical characteristics of bristle brush strokes so i hope to get a new one up about that soon.

I've been bugging Ning to provide a RSS feed for the groups discussions. I think it would make tracking the discussions there easier for people.

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
