I have a couple paint presets that I like which use the Max Sat_LHS Color for their Color Mode. Far too extreme a look for certain uses. Switching all the way to Color is too extreme in the other direction. What I would ideally want is a slider that allows me to choose the amount of saturation boost the brush gets. Is there a way to do this that I am missing or is the best option to just find a mode that most closely relates to the saturation values I am looking for?

Lucas, there are a couple of options that I can think of off the top of my head, John might have more suggestions.
1) you can create a custom palette which would limit the range of color and saturation used
2) you can use the next panel down Paint Color Modulate choose a path gradient and for the gradient end select saturation weaken if you stay with the Max Sat_LHS color mode or Saturation Boost if you choose the Color mode and then slider adjust the amount of boost. There are a few other parameters in that panel you will want to experiment with- Mod amount and Mod Increment for example.
Thanks! Totally set me on the right path there.
Usually, there's a parameter option associated with color modulation where ever it occurs in the paint synthesizer that lets you choose what specific color attributes are being modulated. So in Paint Color Source control panel, the 'Start Option' specifies what about the color is being randomized. So it defaults to Clip Lum (luminance). But there are other options in there like Clip LumSat that might be useful for getting an intermediate randomization of saturation and luminance, which is maybe what you are looking for.
The Offset parameter also works in the color space you specify for the randomization. So you could choose Clip Sat and then adda fixed positive offset to slowly increase the saturation of the Color generated by the output of the Paint Color Source control panel.
