Many people who come to the forum are very interested in the photo mosaic work created by Studio Artist artist Charis Tsevis, which is generated using Studio Artist's movie brush painting features.

As an aid to help anyone interested in creating these kinds of photo mosaic effects, here are some links to existing information posts you can read to help you get started. There are various factory photo mosaic and movie brush presets that ship with Studio Artist, and others available for download via some of the  links i mention below. You can easily modify these to use your own custom movie brushes with your own custom images inside of them.

Keep in mind that the links below are just some of the extensive discussion on this topic you can find if you do some keyword searching on the user forum archives. Some of the links below also point to other online information resources Synthetik provides for Studio Artist users.

Here are some articles on Charis's Studio Artist work.

He uses self tiling movie brush paint presets to generate the photo mosaic effects.

Here's a tip on creating your own movie brush to make a photo mosaic image.

Here are a large number of effect blog project oriented articles on different photo mosaic and photo collage effects.

Photo mosaic effects and how to duplicate Charis's work has been extensively discussed here on the users forum over the years. So you should do some searching through the archived posts here. Here's one old post to take a look at that discusses this topic.

Here's a post that very specificly describes an approach you can use to create sub-nested tiling photo mosiacs, which is somethign that Charis does using Studio Artist quite a bit. Sub-nesting is a term used to describe the adaptive sub division of the individual mosaic tiles going on inside of what people would consider a typical Tsevis style photo mosaic. So detailed areas of the photo mosaic image are sub-divided with smaller tiles to generate more detail in the photo mosaic image representation of a larger main image reproduces by a tiled mosaic of smaller secondary images. Sub-nesting means that any sub-divided tile is complete dived up into smaller tiles.

Check out the post link above to see an example of this and an explanation of one way to create it automatically using Studio Artist. Like most effects you can generate in Studio Artist, there is typically more than one way to create it. This includes photo mosaics, photo collages, and sub-nested tiling.

You can of course re-create Charis's signature styling effects. But we would encourage you to explore Studio Artist's extensive feature set to customize and create your own unique personal artistic stylings as well.

Please how do i access the grid tiling movie brush preset in Studio Artist v4

Are you talking about a simple rectangular grid, or a sub nested one? I pointed you to a V4 tiling preset in this discussion. if you want to do sub-tiling, you should read the post above which points to a specific tutorial post that explains how to do sub tiling.

Ok thanks for the help.
