icons disapear

I think this has been asked before but I cant find a reference to it.

I made some changes to various PASeqs and exported the files using the,  "export Paint Action Preset Sequence preset",  to the same place they came from, ( using the same names ).

The icons all got nuked. Why would that happen and how can I prevent it from happening again?

Thanks all

  • If by 'nuked' you mean that the icon was over-written with whatever was in the canvas at the time you exported the preset, that is the way exporting a preset works. If you want to just overwrite the parameter settings of an existing current preset, then you can just option click the current preset icon.

    ...

There an edit preset menu to Update the Current Preset Icon. So you can use that the change a preset's icon without chaning it's parameters.

    • If you want to just overwrite the parameter settings of an existing current preset, then you can just option click the current preset icon.

This works on "Factory" but not on "Favorite". I am making some progress though, just have to make sure of the exact order in which to do things

      • If the favorite is the loaded current preset, then option clicking the current preset icon will update the favorite.

  • Found the solution. Sorry, should have checked the forum more closely.

In this case, the change I made was to add a single step at the beginning on a bunch of PASeqs, ( set canvas - White ). When I saved the PASeq, the icon changed white.

what I needed to do was run the PASeq first and then update the current pre-set icon, followed by "exporting image operation"

Maybe this is one of those things that could be improved upon though. I made a reference to saving PASeq changes under the new-features topic. Making a change to the current PASeq should not require having to perform multiple actions to save it and the icon it is associated with.

    • and this was not what I wanted either :(

When I run a PASeq, the current Preset starts out as the PASeq I selected but finishes as the last step of the PASeq.

      example:

I select the the PASeq, "Cartoon Vector 2". The Current Preset icon and associated data is "Cartoon Vector 2".

After I run the PASeq, the Current Preset icon is now "IOP: Adaptive Filter ConHull1"

any saves I perform are now associated with the IOP, not the PASeq.

It would be convenient to have have the Current Preset remain and not change to the last step of whatever PASeq is being run.

      I hope this makes sence.

      • If you look in the PASeq tab in the main preferences dialog, there is an Editor Update preference. You probably have it set to During Playback. If you set it to After Playback, then if you start in PASeq op mode and run a PASeq you will end up in PASeq op mode when it finishes.

        • Woohoo!! That was it John.

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor

Teenage Tongue Cult

Hi, here is the video I made back in 2010 for my song "Teenage Tongue Cult". I finally found my master folder of image sequence files for it on one of my old hard drives, and since the version I had on my Vimeo was of pretty terrible pixelated low quality visually, I re-did it yesterday. It has extensive use of Studio Artist through the whole thing. I made it by first animating the characters and scenes in Flash, against a mostly kind of muddy green background, a color I knew wasn't being used…
