I asked about finding edges but so far no reply. Perhaps I am using the wrong language. I want to create a vector line drawing from my photographs with no shadings. Is this possible in SA? If so, how?

Here a basic setup with editor panel of the vectorizer :
You can choose any vectorizer preset and just adjust vector edge blend % to 100% and vector fill blend % to 0 (detail of drawing panel) if you just want lines....
The vectorizer is one avenue to edges in SA. There are many others. Explore the Path commands. Generate paths from source edges, adjacent edges, from the vectorizer etc. Then you can use the paint paths (command-k on a mac) to trace those edges. This will allow you a great amount of freedom in the type of line that you draw.
other possibilities exist in the ImOp commands :: sketch edge :: sketch mass. The MSG could also yield some interesting results. The Texturizer is more limited in edge creation but can also be used.
What is Imop and how do I use it?

For image operation effects, try Color Edge, Edge, or Sketch Edge. Depending on what you are trying to achieve, Sketch Mass might also be of interest to you.
It's also possible to configure the paint synthesizer to generate hard contrast sketch effects. And you can always generate bezier paths from the source edges (Path : Generate Paths : From Source Edges), and then paint them in with black vector paint (Path : Paint Paths : Full Layer) if you wish.
Here are some tips on generating sketch effects.
Here are some effects blog articles on different approaches to sketch effects.
Thanks. I have to leave town for a few days But I will try all of these when I return. Thanks again.
