movie brushes

i used a paint preset called movie brush that was located in the "textures, papers, depths" folder that made my computer crash so i removed it. i am trying to create or use a movie brush that renders the frames of a movie randomly. i have done this in the past with full screen rectangle but i can't seem to recreate it and i've spent most of the day trying to do so.

  • i was able to put out random files initially but then it starts to paint the movie in the source file image. what is supposed to be in the source image when your'e using a movie brush?

  • I've attached a V5 paint preset that paints a random frame from a movie brush into the entire canvas. It's using the Dancing Girl movie file we provide with V5. So run File : Paint Synthesizer : New Movie Brush to change the movie brush to your own file.

If you run through the Editor settings for the paint synthesizer you can see how it's constructed. Any questions about it, feel free to ask and i'll try to fill in more detail.

As far as the source image goes, any random image will work, since you aren't using the source image in any way to determine the paint coloring with this preset.

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
