Hi
I have started to work with the msg part of studio artist. In order to get to see what is available I have run gallery show and have selected the print preset name option. Now what is puzzling me is that I find a lot of preset names like zz23 and I don't know how to run these again. I can't seem to find them anywhere. Can anyone help with this?

MSG presets are in the Preset/MSG folder. As usual, the first level of folders in the MSG folder are collection folders, which contain category folders, which then contain presets. Here's a tip on preset folder organization.
On a mac, it's pretty easy to use spotlight search in the finder to find files with a specific name. On windows, you can use their search box to find files.
If you are running gallery show, then you could use the Recent tab in the PresetBrowser to load recently used presets. This doesn't help you now, but in the next version, if you hold the mouse cursor above the current preset name in the preset browser, if shows the full path on your harddisk in a floating tip text.
Another way to run through MSG factory presets is to use the + button in the Evolution Editor. As you do this repeatably, this will load a grid's worth of MSG factory presets.
As an aside. John was generous enough to share dozens if not hundreds of MSG presets that were really simply part of testing and development. Hence names like zz23. Run the preset and feel free to re-name it something that makes sense to the output. On a different note: like most computer read hierarchies numbers precede letters in searches and listings so if you like a group of presets but are not interested in creating a favs folder. re-naming them with 01, 02 etc., in the front will prioritize them. I have done this primarily with my folders that are too deep in sublevels to appear in the SA menu. This way the presets are grouped as I want them and the ones I use most are at the top of the list.
Part of the reason we ship so many MSG presets is that most people are going to access MSG via working with the Evolution Editor as opposed to building presets from scratch in the MSG Advanced Editor. So if you are using inspire evolution in the evolution editor (the Inspire button), that works off of the factory preset collection. So the more diversity in there, the better inspire works.
Inspire evolution does more than just playback a factory MSG preset. It mutates it, may perform swap edits, may perform color palette and color gradient modifications, may perform macro edits, etc.
Also, most people don't know (or forgot) that there are all kinds of MSG editing commands in the help browser, in the MSG Editing Commands help page.
Hi
Thanks this solves my problem. MSG is a great piece of software.
