Re: Soft Cloner

Sorry to bother you again, but there was a cloner in 3.5 in the Wacom presets called the "Soft Cloner" which I can't seem to find in 4.0. This was great for adding detail back onto a canvas which was blocked out. 1. Is it in 4.0 somewhere ? 2. If not, how does one copy it from 3.5 into 4.0, assuming this can be done ?

  • Found it ! Sorry to bother you.
    • Glad you did. I was about to add a suggestion when I saw your response. Did you land on one of the following?:

PaintSyn:Factory:3.5 Collection: Cloners: "Paint: Soft Clone"

PaintSyn:Factory: Users:Mark's Cloners: "Paint a clone very nice".

      PaintSyn:Wacom: "Clone Source-Soft".

There are many cloning brushes in the various collections.
    • and BTW I often use my MAC's "Spotlight" search feature when I can't remember the location of a preset or paseq. Of course one needs a relevant word to search... but in the case of "soft clone" it works like a charm.

      • Spotlight is a great way to find a specific preset by name on the mac. You can then just drag the preset file from the spotlight returns to the Studio Artist icon in the dock and that preset will load.

You can tell Spotlight to search in a specific folder, so you could set the main Studio Artist folder for the search and avoid all of the false returns for the keywords from other files on your computer that have nothing to do with studio artist.
  • There's also a soft source cloner paint preset in the Default: Utility category called Clone Source-Soft.
    • Isn't that the same one that is in the Wacom category?
      • They are essentially the same. The wacom category you are referring to was setup to provide source presets used in the tutorial projects in the Intuos Demo Projects pdf.

It pretty easy to convert any given paint preset into a source cloning preset with a little editing in the paint synthesizer. You just set the Fill From option in the Paint Fill Setup control panel to source image.
        • Excellent tip-thank you. BTW, the new Tip Site is a welcomed addition!

On the closure of the User Forum : An open letter to John Dalton

Hi John I have no idea what you are going through. However the impact you have made not to continue with the user forum and your desire keep it as a permanent feature as promised in the past is a big shock. It also betrays the faith and love we have shown in you and Studio Artist.  Bluntly spoken, it sucks. That you have chosen to follow this direction in silence, allowing no compassion or understanding on our part is a betrayal of the deepest level. What is going on? This is not the John…

Interdimensional Coincidence Control

Hi everyone, I am glad the site is still here! Here is a new short video I made. All made in Studio Artist, several separate videos with alpha channels, then combined in layers with the music in Blender. A lot of MSG running through brushes, with several of the brush Path Starts being controlled by the MSG Scan Generator in the Generator part of the Path Start in the Paint Synthesizer. Also some MSG running through a brush, then making a video of that with an alpha channel, then making that a…

Whats going on with this site?

Has anyone else gotten a warning about this site disappearing? An email form just popped up, asking me to contract the owner and leave a message to let them know that they may loose their "network"Did Synthetik forget to pay it's bills, or is something else going on?I think 8 months is more than enough vacation time. Is anyone at Synthetik doing any development work at all?
