I've got a 720 x 480 animation that I need to resize to 1280 x 720. I resized the canvas to 1280 x720, loaded the animation, recorded a single Erase Canvas to Source image, and set the # of frames/steps in the PASeq area to the number of frames in the animation. When I hit Play, the sequence does not advance, and when I choose Action Loop, the sequence advances, but the animation does not appear on the canvas. Missing something, no doubt. I also need to record the new animtion to disk either as a bitmap sequence or as an uncompressed QT (which I don't think is supported). Any tips would be appreciated for getting the images to disk

Pressing Play in the PASeq palette is not going to frame advance the source movie.
What the loaded source movie does or does not do when you press Animate in the PASeq palette is a function of how you have the File : Source Settings menu flags configured to.
This allows you to have the source movie track the animation exactly, track the animation movement forward starting from the initial offset source movie frame position, or just use the current source movie frame position (which you might manually manipulate was the animation progresses).
The settings shown above will make the source movie directly track the animation.
If you just want to process the source movie file with the current PASeq and not worry about this stuff, then run Action : Process with Paint Action Sequence : Source to Movie menu command.
Animate : Animate with Paint Action Sequence is more flexible, since what the source area does or does not do is going to track the current Source Settings. So you can replicate the behavior of Action : Process, but you can also have the frame position stay static, or just frame advance from it's starting point offset, loop when it reaches the end of the source movie, etc.
Thanks, John. Been a long time since I used this feaure... I just want a straight resizing, so I'll try Process and check the Source Settings... Thanks again.
If you are running Action : Process, then it's going to ignore the source settings and just process each frame.
So if you just want to process a source movie with some PASeq, that is the easiest route to take.
Victor actually turned me on to using Animate as an alternative to Process when working. But if you go that route, then you need to be aware of the source settings flags, since they controls what happens or not with the source movie frame advance.
Check - thanks.
I just ran into a problem trying to output the Animate to Image process using TIFF files - nothing was written to disk during the entire operation (17000 frames). I tried PNG and it worked and BMP and that also worked, but the exact process/setup/Preferences/settings oututing to TIFF failed. I believe this has come up before. Wndows 10...
So i can run process with PASeq movie to image and it output tiff images from the lateest Studio Artist V5.5.5 windows app. On windows 10 and 11.
