Studio Artist V5.5 Presets

I'll try to drop some specific Studio Artist V5.5 presets in this forum thread.

To start the ball rolling, here is a preset for an art strategy i call the 'Simplified Geodesic Approach'.  You can see the end result below.  It builds an adjacent raster pixel edge map, and then magically fills in everything else from that adjacent edge map (auto-inpainting).

The PASeq i used for this is below. Note that only the first 2 action steps are necessary to build the effect. Everything else is sparkle dust. But looking at how i personally approach sparkle dust might be useful to people.

Key point:  the adjacent edge map needs to be raster pixels. If you generate it from anti-aliased vector drawing, you will probably not be pleased by the results.

Here is what the edge map looks like.

Yes, that does look somewhat different than the final output.

There are many different geodesic image processing effects in the Image Operation section of Studio Artist V5.5 that can be used for this kind of thing.  The Geodesic Falloff IpOp is beefed up in V5.5., and is really a great option for this kind of thing.

A fun exercise foe the reader is to try this without using an adjacent edge map (just use a normal colored pixel edge map).  Why does it look so different?  Think it through.

Now what happens if you just use black edges? Yes, you just created a solid black canvas.  Of course if you back off the Size in Geodesic Falloff with all black edges, and change the Distance Optioon to Triangle, then you might end up with something you like.

So now you can think about how to modify this altered approach to build woodcut effects.

The PASeq preset i posted below was made in V5.5.4.  I have not tested it in V5.5.3.
