The importance of source image

Hi

Having found that the same presets work very differently with different source images I have been trying to find a way to categorize my source images.Subject matter has not proved as helpful as I hoped. Currently I am trying using hdr images created with the presets in nik filters. These come in types like deep, bright etc. I am producing a set of Hdrs from the same image then putting these through a studio artist preset. When I have some results I will put some examples up.Does anybody else have any ideas for sorting source images?

  • Presets primarily modify shapes, colors and textures, so perhaps that’s why content such as subject matter isn’t helpful in classifying source images.  Your nik filters should work better, since based on color, outline sharpness etc.

As for me, I just go with my gut feeling when viewing a  misc. bunch of source images in Lightroom--if I get that ‘Aha!’ reaction to one (who knows why), I’ll try it with SA presets that sometimes work...

And yes, please do post your examples!
