How do you use Studio Artist?
I've been using it to alter video and still footage. It's the primary tool that I've been using to create a multimedia piece called Artificial Afrika, which is a work-in-progress that also became the title of a group show held at Gigantic Art Space in NYC. When finished Artificial Afrika will be 33 pieces of video art/animation that examine and confront notions of Africa as pre- and post-colonial diasporic myth, whatever the hell that means... My goal is to finish A.A. by the end of `07. Yikes.
About Me:
I'm primarily known as a musician (guitarist), a founding member of the rock band Living Colour, the jazzrock band Masque and half of The YoHimBe Brothers (with dj Logic). I'm also a photographer and visual artist exploring emerging technologies as tool and medium on the mac. Studio Artist for me, is the equivalent of Ableton Live in audio; easy to get into and have fun with, while also possessing a very deep feature set, capable of great complexity and richness

I am working on a documentary about Joseph Bowie. As you know he has a quite wild history and somehow at any time it seemed to me that his whole life is like a comic strip. That was the trigger to bring the production into a completely new direction. The thought was if it is so, then the entire film should be realized as a comic/animation. From the very beginning I was sure about that I want to use the rotoscope technic. But I didn't know which tool would be best. After first steps with Photoshop I tried AE, Shake, and other applications before I ran into Studio Artist. It did not take a long time to decide that this is just the right instrument to play with.
And now after joining the SA forum I am going to find you over here. That is somehow pretty funny, but cool. The world is small!
Peace.
(Explanation for everybody else who is reading this: Vernon used to play guitar in Joe's Band Defunkt in the early eighties.)

Question about Artificial Afrika: In Refined Negro Rage Musing, I feel like I should recognize the face that the morphing images are washing over, but I don't. Is this someone I should know..?
