This was made using a generative art strategy that only uses the Vectorizer in Studio Artist V5.5 while testing some new Vectorizer features.

Plague Doctor
In the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, some doctors wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which (according to the now-obsolete miasmatic theory of disease) was seen as the cause of infection. The design of these clothes has been attributed to Charles de Lorme, the chief physician to Louis XIII.

Hi Paul..funnily enough I saw a genuine 17c plague mask last year in a local castle museum. Very sinister thing, and the beak was much longer than the illustrations!

These masks are really scarey. I am surprised that the plague did not die immediately of fright. Edgar Allen Poe probably had seen these.

Do you have any good links to the actual copper engraving? I'm always fascinated with how they constructed those back in the day. With an eye to figuring out how to do it in Studio Artist.

Bernard, you might like this. We're re-working all of the bezier code to be 3D bezier paths, with an eye towards doing what you just did with bezier paths (and associated paint attached to them) prior to rendering them into a view plane of a 3D space they are sitting in. But of course you could have multiple 3D rotated bezier draw planes in a single view.

Cool, John. Yes I like this kind of art. I'm thinking about buying next a CNC machine and RhinoCam software. The goal is creating art with SA, converting it with CAM soft for engraving. I actually use Clayoo Emboss (plugin in Rhinogold) for adding depth. Danny Ceunen made some tests here.
