  • I'd be curious to see how she takes to using Studio Artist directly. If you are up for that experiment. Show her how to select different presets, how to press the action button, how to use the mouse to paint. Then let her go and see what happens.

There was a program on the Big Island here in Hawaii for awhile where a traveling computer lab on a school bus was driving around to isolated communities, and they let elementary school students there generate animated videos using Studio Artist. The results were quite surprising.

  • Heh…if you had an iPad version that was all touch based I think she would love it. Two is a bit young for navigating mouse controls.

  • If you guys ran a windows Surface Pro tablet computer, she could use it that way (via touch).

Maybe someday we will address ipad, it's on our long list of fun things to get around to doing.

I mentioned it because we had someone visiting here who had a young kid a few years older than your daughter (but still very young), and we showed her how to use a wacom pen and tablet to draw with Studio Artist, and then we showed her how to press the action button to autopaint and then the space bar to stop it, and then let her go at it. And she actually picked up on it all really quickly (faster than way older people i've seem try to get started with the program in some respects), had a great time, and then was utterly amazed and excited when we printed out her masterpiece using a color printer here so that she could take it home with her.

  • John, you know my wife. You honestly think we could have Microsoft products in our house?

I could see her totally getting in to Studio Artist in another year or two. Right now she's at about the level as indicated by the above image.
