  • It's works perfectly as you say. Great image!

I tried to figure out John's suggestion to smooth the image first and then generate paths off the smoothed image, but I couldn't get it to work. Got balled up in whether it was a one or two layer operation and the bezier paths threw me for a loop. Anything dealing with paths or bezier edits I have yet to understand, so have always consciously avoided working with them.

What I did was record the smoothing of the original source image in the canvas on layer 1 in a history sequence, then brought in the original paseq and continued recording of it in the hist seq on layer 2 with the "paint bezier" step muted....but I don't think that is the correct approach. The end result was quite different.

How and where are the paths generated? Through an Im Op, the paint synthesizer? A different patch?

    Will keep trying....
  • Under the Path menu there are different menu commands to generate bezier paths. Like from the source image edges. He probably built one of those steps into the PASeq.

There are different approaches to smoothing the source mage. You could always use the Smooth Ip Op and then set the source to the smoothed canvas.

Would you like some presets to generate paper texture effects in studio artist? There's a number of different ways you could do it.
  • Yes, paper textures would be great for paintings. Paper textures are much subtler than the textures now available. Also some way to paste a signature file would be a help, too. Fortunately, for me, time is not a huge issue with this.

Building paseqs, etc. and paths, channels are way beyond my expertise. I come out of a very traditional painting background where the most technical thing I might have done is to make my own pastels. That might have been the most mathematical thing, too, other than figuring out framing questions. That said, the painting in SA works perfectly for me. Hopefully, I'll pick up speed a bit in some of these other areas. Painter was easier to get up to speed as it relies on the traditional painting experience, yet I find SA more exciting to work with.
  • John, I did use the Smooth Ip Op on one layer, but it still didn't render what I thought it would. Also fiddled with Path menu commands a bit, but didn't see any difference. Finding building paseqs from scratch somewhat of a challenge but have managed a few that are ok, however nothing to write home about.

If you are offering presets to generate paper texture effects I would welcome some instead of having to rely on PS for such. Thanks in advance!
