I've been experimenting with using Gallery Show to directly process source movies.  This is a single frame from one of those animation experiments.  Working with the paint synthesizer and bezier anchored effects in this one.

  • is it a folder of video stills?

  • In V5.5 you would have to do it that way, ie: use a folder of sequentially numbered still images with gallery show cycling forward though the sequential frames in that source folder.

In the working version of the next release you can just load a source movie, and then setup gallery show to use a fixed source with it's cycle forward option.  If the fixed source is a source movie, then it will forward increment with these settings.

Another way to do it in V5.5 would be to unroll the gallery show actions into a single PASeq, and then you could run it using the normal Action Animate or Action Process menu commands.  This assumes you are doing someting deterministic in your gallery show cycle. If it's generative, then you could record specific outcomes of the generative cycle, but the PASeq recording is fixed at that point.  Generative means that the effect(s) is always changing.  I usually do the unroll process by recording a single gallery show cycle in the history sequence, then running the Action menu that sticks that History Sequence in the Paint Action Sequence.  There are menu commands to replace or insert at end to-from History and PASeq.

I want to point out that you can do this 'unroll' trick to take a complete keyframed animation and put the entire thing in a single PASeq to run the entire animation processing for each frame of movie processing.
