- I've been using it to alter video and still footage. It's the primary tool that I've been using to create a multimedia piece called Artificial Afrika, which is a work-in-progress that also became the title of a group show held at Gigantic Art Space in NYC. When finished Artificial Afrika will be 33 pieces of video art/animation that examine and confront notions of Africa as pre- and post-colonial diasporic myth, whatever the hell that means... My goal is to finish A.A. by the end of `07. Yikes.

- I'm primarily known as a musician (guitarist), a founding member of the rock band Living Colour, the jazzrock band Masque and half of The YoHimBe Brothers (with dj Logic). I'm also a photographer and visual artist exploring emerging technologies as tool and medium on the mac. Studio Artist for me, is the equivalent of Ableton Live in audio; easy to get into and have fun with, while also possessing a very deep feature set, capable of great complexity and richness

Render blues...
Hi folks.... Just back from LA and a couple of fun shows with the Yohimbe Brothers.... When I left I set my 2 PPC desktops to render some longish Public Domain films for Artificial Afrika. Even with a fast computer, rendering a dense or complex P.A.S. can take days. My G4 tanked, my G5 is at 10K frames and counting....10K to go. My fingers are crossed but I may bail, an take what
I can get-if SA crashes, I lose the rendered up-to-now QT file. Hate when that happens!

Windows Movie File Formats
So please speak up about the movie file formats you would like to see us support on windows. Studio Artist V5.5 is defaulting to H264 mp4 output right now on windows.Being historically die hard mac users, we are not heavy windows users here at Synthetik currently, (and we have tended to work with virtual machines running windows for our development and testing), so we kind of depend on what users tell us for windows specific features we should be supporting.That said, we are getting way more…See More

Question about Artificial Afrika: In Refined Negro Rage Musing, I feel like I should recognize the face that the morphing images are washing over, but I don't. Is this someone I should know..?
