"I fired up Hulu last night, parked on the couch and watched a few episodes of Unbound. Obviously a labor of love involving much manpower backed with a generous but not extravagant budget. It is well done.
Then I hit the links to Skylar's work…"
"Here's my current setup in Studio Artist.
Just started using the Paint Preset Mixer so I docked it above the Help panel with the Meta Edit commands that I like to use. The Mixer is pretty cool but without some way to reference your location…"
"So some Studio Artist users have explored the idea of generating 2D matte background paintings, placing them in a 3D space, and then generating animation that moved through that painted backing space. Here's an old article on Skylar's…"

Not sure you want to go there/here because it all runs uphill to the high-level functions within SA coupled with the individual’s approach to crafting or not crafting a…"

"So here's what I'm talking about. In the first screen shot (group box - slider) I've entered a value of 200 (manually) which over rides the max value selected by dragging the slider to the right hand limit. In the second screen shot…"
"I've never used or even looked at the various options available. I always used the default - Group Box - slider. I thought hey why is that, so I tried out the others. I like the dial and slider one. I find it easier to grab the controls with…"
I'm hoping John and others will weigh in with some interesting methods for creating and applying textures globally as well as selectively to images in Studio Artist.I'd like to find a method or process for applying a believable canvas texture to a finished image. The requirements I have in mind are: 1_subtle application of the texture that mimics the real world effect of paint on canvas (some kind of luminence mapping?) 2_the ability to apply texture globally, or selectively by brush…See More
Nice to hear from you. Sorry it took so long to respond we spend a lot of time up at the lake in the summer. I never heard of Live Play but am always interested in new and old stuff. Love your abstracts.
Hand painted is nearly always better. One cool aspect of SA is that you can record the hand painted line as a bezier curve, then use the paint paths command to try different strokes. I posted an example of this using a drawing of an avocado a while back. link: http://studioartist.ning.com/forum/topics/bezier-curves-movie
well for something "simple" there is a lot of complexity there. I like how you have subtly shaded the colors, and the use of line is great. Not just the curve and placement of the line but the texture and width of the line too.
I do it in a similar way although, I do blend layers if I am not getting what I want otherwise ( or to see what I might be missing). I wind up saving lots of versions and then select the one(s) I like.
"Wow, thanks for explaining the workflow you are using for this particular project!
It's fascinating to see how you put these images together.
I'm glad someone found a creative use for 'File : Export: Export Selected Canvas as…"
