The compression here on ning does kind of ruin this, the speed of the animation combined with the repeating patterns and the frame rate of the player here makes for a strobe effect. thanks for the link to the HQ version, Victor. Worth the trip.

(Nice new site design over there at Victolux!)

thanks chuck. yup i am surprised on how bad the compression is here on ning (tho it's better than on YouTube [tho that's not saying much!]). in fact the uncompressed version of this animation is even better than the version I placed on my website. For the original I did something I had never done and haven't since... I crated it at 60 fps! The result is an amazingly smooth and almost unreal feel. But, needless to say, my "old" G5 gags on that fps if the size is larger than approx 800pixels square.

Anyway, good to hear from you and thanks for the comments.

is this what a moth sees as it flies towards the flame?

So I took a look at the version on victrolux and yep, results are MUCH better. I was entranced for a bit. I really love the smooth glow that the colors have to them. Fantastic work as usual Victor.

Thanks Chris. I like the smoothness too. and, as i mentioned below, the 60fps version is super smooth, slippery and liquidy.

And David, yes it's what the moth sees... and probably what the flame sees too.
