I could feel her shyness and her courage, she must have worked hard on herself to dare record and share that video.
And I am immensely grateful to her for having done that.
That video had an immense impact on what has happened since, Eric Whitacre has acknowledged that in this video: https://www.ted.com/talks/eric_whitacre_a_virtual_choir_2_000_voices_strong?language=en
I have thought many times of doing an hommage to Britlin, and it is only when my favourite voice ensemble recorded the very piece Britlin made me aware of that I decided to do a sketch in her honour (a “sketch” because I do not have the rights to the use of that music).
So this is a double-whammy, a tribute to Britlin, of course, as well as a tribute to the magnificent VOCES8: <a (war, poverty, injustice, racism, hunger, disease, etc.), and for the less unfortunate, it is above all the year of the COVID-19.
For the artists for whom the work is not about performance, or not much, this isolation is just about normal, even desired, and often necessary, but for those who (righty) need a connection with a live public to feel the worth of their practice, what an awful year this has been!
There are so many people I would love to give a big hug to, some I know personally, some barely, some not at all, but who are obviously and understandably going through difficult times, and who could possibly benefit from a bit of tenderness, a sign telling them they are not, you are not, alone.

I do not have the billions of dollars some people have, I therefore cannot distribute material help the way they could, and should, but I do have a lot of feelings for the pain of others, and in some real ways, most of my work is like a hand held out for/to others, again, saying "you are not alone.”

Here’s a new piece, a “sketch" again (meaning I do not have the rights to the music), music composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau and performed beautifully, lovingly, tenderly, by Natacha Kudritskaya.
This music is part of her beautiful record “Rameau” (https://festival1001notes.com/collection/projet/rameau), it is the second time I do a "sketch” with/to/for/from her music, and each time, it has been a heartwarming journey (first one is here, music from the same record: https://vimeo.com/256133446).

This new sketch is titled “Tendrement” (French for “Tenderly”, “Teneramente” in Italian), Natacha’s playing really touches me, I have other pieces on the go, but this one would not let me attend to them until it was “done”.<br
