Thanks Craig, actually this image resulted from an approach akin to how you started 'Messman' .(and thanks for the idea and for that picture(s) too, izz very cool). The ridge here started in PS with a few flat color pen strokes and a touch of a small floral scatter brush on a white background. Then in SA I processed that with a custom Gradient Lighting ImOp that produces the fungal/fern-type style that is on the edges between the colors, and with a Region Selection put the sky in from a background texture, and then used a PAS that is mostly alternating ImOps Smooth/Geodesic Warp/Blur to get the Mooncheesiness Effect pronounced (as wisps in the sky). Check out in my photos one called 'Aurora Arborealis' to see that effect more clearly.

Very nice effect! The sky and reddish portions of the trees especially.
Is this all SA or is another application involved?
