Gallery Show V5.5 Features

Everyone seems jacked to try out the new Ai Generative Paint Features inside of Studio Artist V5.5. So let's dive into what is new in Gallery Show in V5.5.

There is a new Gallery Show ToolBar that should be docked up at the top of the workspace when you start up V5.5.

Like all toolbars and editing palettes, you can always turn them on or off in the main Windows menu.

If you click on that GS Edit button in the GalleryShow ToolBar, it will open up the Preferences dialog inside of the Gallery Show tab. I use this as a shortcut to get to anything in Preferences.

The Gallery Show tab is packed to the gills with new stuff.  This is a screen snap from V5.5.2, the official first release to the public. You can probably expect that V5.5.3 will have even more stuff in there, since we are trying to move the development of the program forward very quickly this coming year.

So Gallery Show is based around a main gallery show Technique.  As you can see, there are quite a few of them to choose from now.

Anything with Factory in the test label refers to the factory presets (the stuff inside of the Preset folder in your Studio Artist folder). If you customize your preset folder, all the additional custom stuff will be used as well.

If the word Mutate is in the text label, then the associated presets are automatically mutated when one is selected for use in gallery show. This happens internal to gallery show, the preset file itself is not changed.

If the word Random is in the text label, that means the parameters for the associated effect are auto-generated on the fly.  This is not necessarily uniform random mutation, because there are internal AI heuristics associated with all of the different op modes and effects that try to intelligently constrain the mutated parameters. the term 'intelligent' is a loose one right now, and that stuff tends to be improved with each update.  You might expect that at some point you will be able to help train it, but not in V5.5.2.

If the word Cur Favorites in in the text label, then it is referring to the current Favorites category you have loaded in the Favorites toolbar.

If the word Process Folder is in the text label, then it is referring to the current Process Folder location you have specified in the gallery show preference tab (middle of the dialog).

Most of the popups have a Surprise Me option, and it does just that, surprises you with what it chooses differently each time it runs.

Gallery Show runs a series of gallery show Cycles.

Each cycle consists of a sequence of processing actions.

1: a source for the processing is setup

2: Start Cycle processing

3: Main Technique processing

4: End Cycle processing

This sequence of gallery show cycles happens over and over again if you press the GS Run button in the GalleryShow Toolbar.

If you just want to run one cycle, press the GS 1Cycle button.

if you want to stop the endless gallery show cycles from running, press the space bar to stop it. This can be finicky depending on what is running, you should hold it down for awhile as opposed to just banging it quickly.

if you think the current cycle sucks, you can press the GS Skip button to skip to the next cycle.
