I'm making a mosaic but I want my paint nibs or brush to be masked in the shape I draw or I want to rotate the contents of the brush in real-time as I draw or paint or apply the image brush. I don't want the whole image to show in the shape that I draw, only the part I need (like masking portions of the brush image to reveal some and hide some. Would appreciate some help with this.

Are you saying you want to hand draw a selection mask, and then have a mosaic paint effect only paint inside of that selection mask area?
Or are you asking how to pass through an internal alpha matte inside of one of the mosaic images so that the brush ony draws that masked shape rather than the full rectangular area of the image brush?
And then it seems like you have a second question about rotating the brush?
Are you working with single paint nibs in a normal image or image folder brush in the paint synthesizer?
Or are you working with Region Fill as Brush pen mode in the paint synthesizer? In conjunction with some path start regionization paint preset?
