  • this is another modification of the edgey bubble. The paintings composition is based on a recent psychological study on how socialization affect the viewers attention points in a picture. The study was cultural comparative, comparing western viewers with Chinese viewers. If you enjoy this you are western.. the study showed we tend to want to focus on the center. So here I have distilled the art to where your eye wants to focus. Putting the greatest detail in the (perspective) far back center. Your eye feels like it is being drawn in (an old trick of perspective) the new bit is knowing that it would go there anyway and accommodating
  • What did the study say about the Chinese? Where are they put the focus on?
  • Frank.. the Chinese (in the study) pay attention to the details at the borders and in the background away from the center of focus.. As with all such things these are statistical generalizations. But true or not it has provided me some food for thought in my art.
