Caddo Lake #8

I used Pastel and I forget what other kind of Studio Art brush. I used a little bit of PS/Buzz emboss on the Pastel layer.

  • Lisa, nice work. You might try some experiments with SA imop Gradient Lighting for embossing.

  • Thanks very much for the suggestion.  Can I ask you a personal question?  What should I study first?  There's so much to learn!  And all I do is pick out which brush I think's ok.

there really is no proper answer to your question. In some ways it would depend upon what you want to be able to do.

I only mentioned the gradient lighting as you noted that your process took the image out to PS for embossing, and as SA can do the same it wasn't necessary. I will use other packages, which is to say I am not a SA snob, however, I find that in the work flow the less time wasted filpping programs the better.

I do think that you are on the right track for starters, testing out the various presets. I suppose if you want to gain more control the step after that would be to crack the lid on the editor and see what makes the presets function. At the same time it might be more interesting to simply learn how to make PASeqs from existing presets. It all depends on your goal, patience and curiosity

  • Lisa,

You can also use the galley show mode, if you want to see what the presets of a certain category can do, only on one, or on more pictures...Usefull for beginners, I think.

  • Thanks, liveart.  I used the gradient light like you suggested and all of the gradients were too much for that image.  Is there a fade or a lower opacity setting anywhere?  This program is so awesome.  I have used the editor not knowing what I was doing.  When you close the editor, does it automatically revert the settings to the original settings?

  • Thanks, Bernard.  The galley show mode sounds like a very good mode.

  • gallery...sorry :-)

  • Too late to edit!  ;-)  That's ok!

  • Lisa, you can use the Mix parameter associated with any of the image operation effects to cut down on the amount of the effect. I typically use a Mix of 15 to 20 % when i add Gradient Lighting to a canvas.

  • Thanks so much for your help, John!
