  uhm,
  I've SA 4.05, I don't know the old version, but you should have the "Paint Synthesizer" presets?!

  in the version I use, there are a lot of Paint presets; I found the presets of "mosaic movie brush"
  and change some settings for the different dimensions of the tiles.

  Search for mosaic paint presets or something about it ;-)
  
  or maybe you can ask here in the forum for old versions of SA.
