  • Here are the sources.

    First this one that was simplified, with Imop, then Rank Area filter to smooth the face. I didn't want to have details.  In this case it was not the vectorizer. Sorry but I do many test with 2 iPads and 2 Mac. So it goes faster, because you have to wait about 10min after posting the pictures to see the result on Pikazo website.

    I made hundreds of tests, and I'm trying to understand how the algorithm works. Why do some pictures go well, and other not. 90% are bad....I'm beginning to have better result.

    I also use the vectorizer with the new V5 Poly Simplify Region effect, that brings good results.

  • A trick to "influence" Pikazo is to take a detail, example with the aquarelle picture.

  • yes I see and I believe that I understand what is happening and why your simplified images are getting better results. I also think that the answer gives a window in how to do this in SA.

    The algo is analyzing the first images and creating a set of paths, priority given to certain interest points. The second image is looked at for paths can can be indexed to the first image set. So in other words the algo seeks a degree of spatial similarity. Then the paths of the first are used to spatialy warp the paths of the second and the pixel coloration is simply blended.

    We can do this in SA but it is an involved process. One would use the Morph animation technique on 2 separate source images. It might be possible to use some of the new features of SA 5 to generate the first set of paths, but because the number of paths has to match (as does the sequencing) the only way right now would be to hand adjust the paths to the second image. Still with a low number of paths this might not be too bad. Here is a link to Morph animation in SA:
