Experimenting with some oil paint presets. Trying to get a Van-Gogh-like wavy stroke patterning going on in the background with an impressionist high saturation opponent coloring scheme and raised textured rough paint strokes.

Yeah, lum for path angle is probably a better way to go. I'm using orient with a really long cycle in path angle modulation that is amplitude modulated with the inverse texture (so wavy in non textured area, track orient best at edges).
